Summary About the position: The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the operations and maintenances of the Arts & Crafts Center Program at the Arts & Crafts Center of the 35th Force Support Squadron Misawa AB. This is a Flexible category position; guaranteed 0 hours per week, but may work up to 40 hours a week (depending on the needs of the facility). Military Spouse Preference is not lost if selected for this position. Learn more about this agency Duties Individual is responsible for researching and ordering resale inventory. Assists with supply orders for store and programming use. Updates RecTrac POS interface, conducts monthly inventory, and merchandise retail items with guidance from supervisor. Submits supply/damage requests for processing. May operate cash register, collects, safeguards, reconciles, and deposits monies received from customers for all assigned areas. Assists supervisor in programming and implementing a year round calendar of craft classes and events. Provides quality customer service, answers customer's questions and assists with product selection via phone and in-store. Provides simple instructions to children and adult craft classes. Prepares ceramics for firing, fires, loads/unloads kiln, and receives/issues glazed pieces. Enforces safety practices on patrons. Inspects facility and equipment to ensure safe conditions and cleanliness. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. May on occasion shovel snow from sidewalks and put down ice melt. Must have customer service and cash handling experience. Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly and accurately in English. Condition(s) of Employment: Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be physically able to lift and carry items up to and including 50 pounds. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1) is required. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
