CNC Machinist - Iron Shop mechanic

Machinist / Iron Shop Mechanic Experience: 4+ years The iron shop mechanic uses proper techniques to produce quality parts using various shop equipment including drill presses, saws, grinders, vertical mills, lathes, etc. Other duties and tasks may be assigned. Machines you will be using: • Hurco VMC (must know how to setup and make programs!!) • Wiedemann punches • Daito bandsaw • Drill presses for countersinking and tapping • Manual lathe Duties: • Setup and operate machines and produce quality parts according to work order instructions and supervisor instructions. • Ability to read work order instructions and carry out directions as necessary. • Inspect and verify parts based on engineering drawings. • Work in an efficient and timely manner, multitasking where necessary. • Communicate with supervisor regarding issues, as well as defects in any part(s). • Identify areas for process improvement, cost and waste reduction. • Daily and periodic maintenance of equipment. • Keep work area clean. This includes sweeping floors, emptying garbage containers, etc. Desired Qualifications: • Great Attendance • Experience with the operation of typical shop equipment including drill presses, saws, etc. • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with peers, supervisor and upper management. • Ability to multi-task. • Ability to read or use hand tool (rulers, hammer, etc.) • Attention to detail and commitment to quality, with the ability to identify any defects in parts. • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude including the use of a tape measure, vernier calipers, and a micrometer. • Must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and understand proper lifting techniques. Must be authorized to work in the USA.
