This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Business Development, International in United States.

This senior-level opportunity is designed for a commercially driven leader passionate about industrial decarbonization and global energy transformation. In this role, you will originate and develop large-scale clean energy projects focused on industrial heat applications across international markets, particularly in Spain and Australia. You will work cross-functionally to structure innovative energy solutions, guide projects toward final investment decisions, and build long-term strategic partnerships with industrial customers and key stakeholders. The position combines strategic deal-making, technical collaboration, and international business development in a mission-focused environment committed to sustainable impact. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in complex negotiations, values innovation, and wants to play a direct role in accelerating the transition toward low-carbon industrial operations. Candidates seeking both high visibility and meaningful environmental impact will find strong growth opportunities in this role.

Accountabilities:

  • Identify and originate high-value industrial decarbonization opportunities within international energy markets.
  • Develop customer-focused commercial solutions leveraging thermal energy storage technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency.
  • Lead negotiations and secure commercial off-take agreements with industrial facilities and strategic energy partners.
  • Manage project development activities and budgets to advance opportunities toward final investment decisions (FID).
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with industrial customers, developers, utilities, financiers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to structure scalable, investable, and commercially viable energy projects.
  • Contribute to the optimization of internal deal-development processes, improving execution efficiency and project scalability.
  • Support expansion into new international and domestic markets as the project portfolio grows.
  • Requirements:

    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial energy sales, project development, or renewable energy business development.
    • Proven track record of successfully advancing complex energy projects through final investment decisions.
    • Strong expertise in renewable energy markets, industrial thermal systems, or decarbonization technologies.
    • Demonstrated ability to structure creative commercial agreements and solve complex quantitative business challenges.
    • Experience negotiating high-value commercial contracts and managing strategic customer relationships.
    • Established network within the energy sector, including industrial offtakers, utilities, developers, or financing partners.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills across international business environments.
    • Experience working in international markets, particularly within industrial decarbonization or low-carbon fuels sectors, is highly preferred.
    • Ability to work effectively in both remote and onsite collaborative settings, with preference for proximity to San Jose, California.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive annual base salary ranging from $188,000 to $225,000 USD.
      • Equity compensation through stock option offerings.
      • Comprehensive healthcare coverage including medical, life, and disability insurance.
      • Employer-sponsored 401(k) plan with company contributions.
      • Flexible spending account options.
      • Industry-leading paid time off policy with inclusive and flexible holiday observance.
      • Paid volunteer time off to support community engagement initiatives.
      • Opportunity to contribute directly to impactful climate and industrial sustainability initiatives.
      • Collaborative, mission-driven culture focused on innovation, inclusion, and long-term growth.
