What you will be doing:

• Playing a key role on a collaborative project team, responsible for the design and production of mission critical, enterprise-scale business systems
• Translating requirements into system design specifications and the implementation of systems throughout the entire software development life cycle
• Developing a thorough understanding of the logistics business and risk management domains
• Maintaining an awareness of evolving technologies in use by other teams at Expeditors and in the technology industry as a whole

 The primary responsibility of this role is to perform as a Scrum Master, working effectively as part of Agile teams. As Scrum Master you will use your Agile experience and interpersonal skills to foster team health and collaboration, guiding the team to become high performing, empowered and self-organizing. You will apply systems thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and remove impediments to team and project success throughout the development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will be excited by servant leadership and applying your people skills in a technical environment. They will embrace ambiguity and enjoy being a member of cross-functional teams tackling complex problems. They will be capable of coaching and providing insights to the team(s) on how to improve processes and champion delivery of functioning software to a broad base of users.

Primary Responsibilities

• Coach the team to adopt the use of Scrum/Agile/SAFe core values, principles, and practices
• Protect the development team from outside distractions
• Improve quality, predictability, flow, and velocity while maintaining a focus on daily and iteration goals in the context of the current Program Increment objectives
• Collaborate with other Scrum Masters/Project Manager to deliver functioning software on a planned cadence
• Facilitate team retrospectives to foster an expectation of continuous improvement
• Coordinate and conduct daily stand-up, iteration planning, iteration review, and iteration retrospective
• Assist the Product Owner in the management of the team backlog with respect to priorities and scope
• Eliminate blocking issues that are either beyond the team’s authority or may require support from other teams

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 4+ years of scrum master experience
• Communication of status and results with technical and non-technical audience
• Familiarity with the system development lifecycle, including Agile techniques and other methodologies
• Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively 
• Effective at navigating ambiguity and helping diverse teams drive towards clarity and consensus
• Expertise in creating, analyzing, and improving processes
• Management of multiple and competing priorities
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Ability to recognize and mitigate risks
• Driven, strong 'get it done' attitude

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Scrum Master or Advanced Scrum Master Certification
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Office 2013 or above, and SharePoint
• Understanding of the transportation/logistics industry and/or customs brokerage
• Passion for technology
• Experience/knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
