Job description

Team: Product

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Owner based in India.

This role sits at the intersection of product strategy and engineering execution, acting as a critical bridge between US-based product leadership and India-based development teams. You will be responsible for translating high-level epics into clear, actionable user stories that enable fast, high-quality delivery within a complex developer platform environment. The position plays a key role in ensuring alignment, clarity, and execution discipline across distributed teams working on a major developer portal transformation initiative. You will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and product managers to ensure requirements are well-defined and delivery-ready. Operating in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment, you will help reduce execution friction while improving product delivery outcomes. This is a highly impactful role for someone who combines strong product thinking with hands-on delivery ownership.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead backlog refinement and story grooming sessions, translating epics and features into detailed user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria aligned to engineering and AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with US product management objectives, roadmap priorities, and engineering capacity.
  • Act as the primary execution bridge between US Product Managers and India engineering teams, ensuring clarity of scope, sequencing, and delivery expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure stories are implementation-ready, technically feasible, and aligned with system architecture and integration requirements.
  • Track sprint progress, dependencies, risks, and blockers, proactively communicating updates to stakeholders and ensuring delivery continuity.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including grooming and refinement sessions, ensuring consistent understanding across distributed teams.
  • Ensure delivered functionality meets acceptance criteria and supports high-quality, production-ready releases within defined delivery cycles.
  • Requirements:

    • 5–8+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, with strong hands-on ownership of delivery (not Scrum Master or BA-only experience).
    • At least 3 years of experience working on developer-facing products such as API platforms, developer portals, SDKs, or internal developer tooling ecosystems.
    • Strong experience writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for technical and API-driven systems.
    • Proven experience running backlog grooming, sprint planning, and refinement sessions as a core responsibility.
    • Strong understanding of system architecture, integration patterns, and engineering workflows, with the ability to collaborate effectively with architects and senior engineers.
    • Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira or equivalent platforms for backlog and sprint management.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to operate effectively across US and India-based teams in a cross-cultural environment.
    • Experience working in distributed engineering setups and navigating India-based corporate delivery environments is highly preferred.
    • Benefits:

      • Fully remote role with structured overlap across IST and US working hours
      • Opportunity to work on a large-scale developer portal transformation program
      • High-impact position bridging global product and engineering teams
      • Exposure to API platforms, developer experience systems, and modern engineering workflows
      • Strong career growth in product leadership and enterprise-scale delivery environments
      • Collaborative work with experienced product managers, architects, and engineering teams
      • Flexible engagement options (FTE or contract, depending on fit).
