to perform tests and analysis to verify that critical systems of the aircraft powertrain operate at their optimal temperatures under a range of nominal and abnormal condition to ensure maximum performance and safety You will be part of the Energy Storage and Power Systems ESPS team that develops the battery pack and power distribution systems that power all systems on our allelectric aircraft<p> <p><b>What you will do<b> <p><ul><li>As part of the ESPS organization and deployed in the Thermal and Venting group you will act as a Thermal Engineering Intern for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market<li> <li>Work in a multidisciplinary group to drive design electromechanical assemblies of high voltage components<li> <li>Perform analysis ranging from hand calculations and 1D models up to 3D multiphysics CFD on battery pack thermal components power electronics and avionic systems<li> <li>Post process and report analysis results to support design decisions and optimize the thermals management system for performance and weight<li> <li>Help design build and perform experiments of real aircraft systems to calibrate and validate simulations <li> <li>Support prototype builds and technology maturation testing to ensure thermal systems meet functional requirements<li> <li>You will be responsible for providing analytical support for preliminary amp detailed design through development validation certification and manufacturing amp operational service<li> <ul><p><b>What you have done<b> <p><ul><li>Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent BS MS or PhD program<li> <li>You have worked on the development of complex hardware products in aerospace automotive or other similar industrial applications Prior experience through internships or with student design teams ex FSAE is a plus<li> <li>You have handson experience building prototypes setting up and running tests Preference will be given for experience with EVs batteries thermal and fluid systems power electronics or other highvoltage applications<li> <li>You have applied knowledge of thermal engineering analysis and simulation tools for developing system models in 1D MatlabSimulink GTsuite Amesim etc and 3D Star CCM+ Ansys COMSOL etc<li> <li>You have strong documentation skills and can write detailed test and analysis technical reports<li> <li>Embrace learning be curious organized amp methodical and pay attention to detail<li> <ul><p><b>Required SkillsExperience<b> <p><ul><li>Programming experience for system modeling and data processing preferably with MatlabSimulink or Python<li> <li>Experience working within large assembly environments strongly preferred<li> <li>You have a safetyoriented mindset and have worked around hazardous equipment requiring advanced safety training Experience and training with highvoltage HV a strong advantage<li> <li>Familiarity with instrumentation practices for thermallyfocussed testing such as the application of thermocouples heat flux sensors and pressure transducers<li> <li>You are a highly motivated self starting individual
