Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Medicare Drug Benefit and C&D Data Group, Division of Part D Policy. As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will develop, evaluate, and implement Medicare prescription drug benefit policies. Learn more about this agency Duties Conducting analytical studies and evaluating prescription drug benefit in policy areas related to access to Title XVIII, Part D plans, Part D benefit design. Coordination of benefits with Part D organizations as well as the low-income subsidy program under Part D. Viewed by management as a key agency focal point for these activities. The incumbent is viewed by external stakeholders as the key agency focal point for pharmacy transaction standards. The output of the incumbent may directly be reflected in parts of major Federal program decisions, and/or legislative proposals. Build and maintain working relationships with other Centers and Groups within CMS and HHS for collaboration on electronic pharmacy standards and coordination of benefits work. In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1. Providing technical expertise for electronic pharmacy transaction standards and coordination of benefit (COB) initiatives and activities related to legislation, regulation and program policy; AND 2. Identifying potential improvements or changes for the Medicare Part D program and making recommendations to implement such solutions; AND 3. Communicating technical and detailed information in a variety of formats such as regulations, briefing papers, and presentations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
