<p>You have a clear vision of where your career can go And we have the leadership to help you get there At CNA we strive to create a culture in which people know they matter and are part of something important ensuring the abilities of all employees are used to their fullest potential <br ><b>JOB DESCRIPTION<b><br ><b>Job Summary<b><br >Officer position responsible for providing overall underwriting excellence through management and oversight over the Private Equity and Venture Capital book for business Ensures effective management and implementation of strategic objectives and policies for the class of business in accordance with the companys strategic plans<br ><b>Essential Duties amp Responsibilities<b><br >Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines <br >1 Implements strategic objectives underwriting strategies and best practices with substantial impact on the shortterm success of the industry segment<br >2 Ensures the achievement of continued profitability growth andor operational efficiencies for the industry segment through assessment of risk tolerance market appetite and emerging risk issues<br >3 Evaluates underwriting performance based on financial analysis Includes rate reserve adequacy operational planning and product reviews Provides results to members of the underwriting management team and develops plans to resolve areas of needed improvement<br >4 Monitors the usage and profitability of alternative pricing programs<br >5 Drives adherence to underwriting authority delegation audit criteria and catastrophe management for the industry segment<br >6 Collaborates with business partners in Risk Control Actuarial Claim Worldwide Operations and Compliance to address governance and compliance issues related to underwriting practices<br >7 Provides guidance and direction in the development of underwriting and training tools<br >8 May lead direct and have full management accountability for staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with strategic direction<br >9 May take lead responsibility for the development of underwriting strategies and position papers for emerging issues when assigned<br >10 May maintain relationships with branches adjacent product underwriters brokers agents and customers to assess risk tolerance market appetite and emerging issues<br >May perform additional duties as assigned <br ><b>Reporting Relationship<b><br >Typically VP and above<br ><b>Skills Knowledge amp Abilities<b><br >1 Indepth technical knowledge of underwriting theories and practices within the insurance field<br >2 Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of external andor internal business partners within scope of responsibility team andor matrix environment<br >3 Leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism<br >4 Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving problems within scope of responsibility<br >5 Knowledge of the insurance industry its products and services<br >6 Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other businessrelated software<br ><b>Education amp Experience<b><br >1 Bachelors degree with Masters preferred in a related discipline or equivalent<br >2 Typically a minimum of 10 years of related work experience with five years management experience<br >3 Certifications such as RPLU or CPCU roles<br >In certain jurisdictions CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role In California Colorado Connecticut New York and Washington the national base pay range for this job level is $143000 to $228000 annuallySalary determinations are based on various factors including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and location CNA offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package to help our employees and their family members achieve their physical financial emotional and social wellbeing goals For a detailed look at CNAs benefits please visit cnabenefitscom <br >CNA is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities in the recruitment process To request an accommodation please contact leaveadministrationcnacom<p>
